This one is not exactly breaking news, but it is worth going back to.
Israeli black/doom metal act Yagon released the single “The Choice” in March 2026, and for anyone who missed it at the time, the track deserves a listen before the next chapter of the band begins.
Yagon was formed in Rishon LeZion, Israel, in 2020 and is the work of Alon Ze’evi, who handles the music, instruments and vocals.
“The Choice” runs for six minutes and moves within the dark, atmospheric territory that has characterised Yagon’s work. Its lyrics revolve around decisions, paths not taken, lost possibilities and the consequences left behind by the choices people make.
The track was written and performed musically by Alon Zeevi, who also produced the single, while Yael Flynn wrote the lyrics. Mixing and mastering were handled by Matheus Vidor.
“The Choice” followed Yagon’s 2024 single “In the Name of God” and the 2023 full-length Beyond. That album contained seven tracks and continued the band’s combination of black and doom metal with a strong atmospheric and melancholic element.
Yagon’s catalogue goes back to 2022, including the EP A Raven’s Tale, which was later reissued through WormHoleDeath Records. The band has remained centred around Ze’evi throughout its existence, with guest musicians appearing on several releases.
More importantly, Ze’evi has recently been pointing towards new material on Yagon’s social media, making this a good time to return to “The Choice” before whatever comes next is revealed.
So yes, we are a few months late with this one. But good music does not stop being worth hearing because the release-day post has already disappeared down the timeline.
Listen to “The Choice” now on YouTube, Bandcamp and the usual streaming platforms.
